Activities 2005-2013

Over the period 2008 to 2012, the financial support of the Climate Cent Foundation made possible the reduction of almost 2.7 million tonnes of CO₂ in Switzerland. Around 235‘000 tonnes of CO₂ reductions were furthermore achieved in the years 2006 and 2007.

Over 16 million certificates stemming from projects registered with the UN were handed over to the Swiss Confederation, each representing the verified reduction of one tonne of CO₂ equivalent. The Swiss Confederation uses the certificates to meet its international climate protection commitment for the years 2008 to 2012 under the Kyoto Protocol.

The Climate Cent Foundation has contributed at least half of the reductions required to meet Kyoto targets.

In a final report, the Climate Cent Foundation looks back on its activities since launching on 1 October 2005 and sets out that and how it has fulfilled its obligations vis-à-vis the Swiss Confederation.
