Mustard plant biomass project in India

Project

This is a Small-Scale CDM project (project realised in a developing country) in which a 7.5 MW biomass plant is operated using crop residue of the mustard plant.

Project owner

Amrit Environmental Technologies Private Limited is a small, sound company active in the field of renewable electricity production.

Initial situation

The project replace the production of electricity with coal.

Due to Klimarappen

Crop residues of the mustard plant are used to operate a 7.5 MW installation. 6.8 MW are injected into the regional power grid (Rajasthan Vidyut Prasaran Nigam). The required quantity of waste material of 71'500 tonnes per year is delivered by farmers working within a 25 km radius.

Savings

The Foundation acquires 202'500 CERs, which corresponds to the total amount of reductions over the years 2006–12.
