Downstream power plant in China

Project

The plant generates a yearly 30 GWh and replaces electricity stemming from fossil production.

Project owner

Yongsheng Electric Power is a young private company in China, operating within the field of renewable energies. All the company’s employees are highly experienced and have already cooperated on the construction of other hydropower plants.

Initial situation

The majority of used energy in the area is fossil. This pollutes the environment.

Due to Klimarappen

The run-of-the-river power plant was built thanks to the Foundation. It is located in a gorge, meaning both the water of the Yanshui River and water retained in a reservoir up in the hills can be used for power generation. The dammed up water flows into the valley through pipes. Three turbines of 2,5 MW each transmit the energy created by rotary motion to the generator, which transforms the mechanical energy into electricity. Every year, 30 GWh are produced over 4’780 hours of operation. The generated power replaces fossil energy resources and is acquired by the public corporation Yanbian Country Electric Power Company.
